The Transcript For This Page

Re-establish the scene, with the brothers standing on the crater rim next to the propped-up, inverted Mass Driver.

Bert: The mass driver is mostly made of carbon nanotube sheets and blocks.
Bert: So when we fire it up, it will be mostly just our weight it will have to thrust forward.

Panel 2
Closer two-shot of the brothers.

Ernie: That and the weight of the rest of the reaction mass.
Bert: Yeah, but every time we shoot a rock out the butt of this thing, the remaining payload mass is reduced.
Bert: Ernie, you ran the numbers, we can do this.

Panel 3
Medium shot of Ernie, holding up his hand in a gesture of caution.

Ernie: Only within a fair-sized margin of error.
Ernie: I think we can do it, but we won't know until near the end. It may be very close.

Panel 4
Two-shot of the brothers – Bert is smiling gamely, while Ernie rolls his eyes.

Bert: Certainly the game is rigged, but it's the only game in town!
